Lisey's Story, The Australian Open 2009 & Alam Damai Park

Hi, I have mentioned that I bought two new books recently to read. The books are Lisey's Story (Stephen King) and Double Cross (James Patterson). Since I finished my first Stephen King novel, Duma Key, I am more interested to read more of his novels. He is a very good author. Lisey's Story is a story about Lisey, a widow who lost her husband in a planned murder during the launch of a library. Her husband was an established author called Scott Landon. He wrote quite a lot of books and received good responses from his readers. It talks about how Lisey copes with the death of her husband at home. She also began to receive mysterious phone calls from a man which she feels a little threatening. As she copes with this, she also hears her husband's voice talking to her, giving her help on coping with his death. The memories of her husband's murder came back to her as well during her time of coping. So far, I have read only about 1/6 of the book, which is about 100 pages out of about 650 pages in total. Interesting. Here are the pictures of Duma Key and Lisey's Story. These are the new covers from Hodder that came out in 2008 and 2007 respectively. Have you been watching Australian Open 2009? It is one of the most prestigious tennis championships, also known as Grand Slams held every year. The Australian Open is held in Melbourne. I watched it with my family through Star Sports on Astro's Channel 813. It's coming to an end soon on Sunday with the Men's Singles Finals. Roger Federer, the world Number 2 will be meeting either Rafael Nadal or Fernando Verdasco in the finals. Rafael Nadal is playing with Fernando Verdasco currently. Fernando is quite good in the Australian Open this year beating Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Quarter and Semi Finals respectively. He also won the first set of the match with Rafael Nadal so far. It is a very exciting match with Fernando Verdasco playing his very best. The same for Rafael Nadal. Fernando may be able to beat Nadal. For the Ladies Singles, Dinara Safina from Russia will play Serena Williams in the finals tomorrow. Maybe Dinara Safina will win the Australian Open 2009. For the Men's Singles, I think that Roger Federer will win this year's Australian Open. He is back on form. Making a lot of amazing shots in his previous matches. In the 4th round, he recovered from a 2 set down and beat Tomas Berdych in 5 sets. He kept his cool and won it in the end. Went for a walk at Alam Damai Park (ADP), Cheras for the first time at around 0730 this morning. It is a beaufiful park although it has less trees than Taman Tasik Permaisuri. It is nearer to my house. It is also smaller than Taman Tasik Permaisuri. The air at the park was fresh too. Saw the sunrise when I went there. Covered two rounds of walking. There are two dancing groups this morning. One is a larger group dancing to all sorts of music, similar to the one in Taman Tasik Permaisuri on weekends. It is called Senaman Aerobik. Maybe I can join in too. Good form of exercise eh? :-). It has less hilly too compared to Taman Tasik Permaisuri (TTP). TTP also has specially designed pavements for walking, running and jogging. TTP has more slopy areas and it is good because I can challenge myself at these areas (Needs more energy to go up the slopy areas mah). It is more spacious than ADP. It is nice to know that there is a green lung near my house. It is also facing some of the Alam Damai houses nearby. Nice. There are a group of houses which its back are facing the park. Good scenery. Here are some of the pictures taken at ADP which includes a picture taken of the clouds and two of the sunrise witnessed this morning: Changes made to the blog Lisey's Story, The Australian Open 2009 & Alam Damai Park

Gong Hei Fatt Choy

Wishing all of Life - Mindset of Everything That I Do or Say, It Is For God's Glory blog readers a Happy Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of Ox. May all of you be blessed in the year of Ox. For your information, I was born in the year of Ox. Gong Hei Fatt Choy. Xin Nian Quai Le.
Just came back from Ipoh today. Visited my grandmother and had a good family reunion in Ipoh. We had a Lou Sang together too. While I was at Ipoh, I also bought a new pair of shorts at Parkson. Started reading on one of the books that I bought two weeks ago from Borders The Gardens. I also played two games of Pro Evolution Soccer with my cousin. Saw A Long Pte Ltd on TV yesterday. It was really funny. I give it a rating of 7/10 for the show. Fann Wong and Christopher Lee acted well in the show. Christopher Lee is very funny in the show as a dancing instructor and later married Fann Wong's character, Hua Jie. He does not know that she is the leader of a Ah Long group. Some parts of the show are violent though. There is one scene in which two rival Ah Long gangs which include Hua Jie's play football but instead of a normal football, they used durians instead. :D. It's funny but at the same time violent too. :).
I also played Boggle with my sister and my cousins and watched CJ7. CJ7 is quite a creative show but it does not interest me much when I watched the show. It had some scenes from Kungfu Hustle. The CJ7 alien pet is quite cute though. There is an educational lesson behind, never give up even when we faced tough conditions. We should not learn to cheat too. It will give more troubles for us. Certain parts of the show. I give it a rating of 6/10 for this show.
I will start working on 3rd February. It is also the day of my company's annual CNY dinner. I will be attending again this year. Attended last year's annual dinner at Tropicana and I think it should be the same place again.
I will be posting another blog entry today about car decisions. It will be at the bottom of this entry. Links will be available to navigate between these two blog entries.

Proton Persona

Hi, I might be deciding to buy a car but not sure when yet. I would like to ask opinions about the cars that I have in mind. These are the choices:
  1. Proton Persona
  2. Perodua MyVi SE / Perodua MyVi 1.3 Auto
What do you think about these cars? Is Proton Persona reliable? I heard and saw some good reviews on the Internet but it is really good? Proton Persona also won numerous awards such as Car of the Year 2008 and Asian Bosch Award for Fuel Efficiency 2008 in the respective categories. The same goes for the ubiquitous Perodua MyVi. It is selling like hotcakes since its launch. I have read that there are over 265,000 MyVis on the road. The general opinion is that Perodua cars have better quality than Proton.
Proton Persona 1.6 looks nice. I quite like the looks of it and it has a lot of features from ABS, Dual SRS Airbags, CD player, relatively big boot space, GPS, etc. Quite value for money. The same goes for MyVi too. Do you have any opinions on these? Just put some comments or shout it out using the ShoutMix chat box on the right corner of my blog. Thanks.

IPod Nano 8GB and American Idol 2009

Hi, This is my latest and last post of the day. I have separated my blog posts today into 3. First it is the Decisions post, followed by the Honda City 2009 and this one talks about American Idol and IPod Nano that I just bought recently. Links to the other posts will be at the bottom of all 3 posts. Have fun reading them. I bought an IPod Nano 4G on Sunday with Apple's Extended Warranty. I have chosen a green colour 8GB model. For me, it is enough. With all collection my music, several podcasts, Youtube videos and some selected photo albums, I still have about 6.1 GB remaining. It is very easy to use but I need to get used to using the clickwheel. I can make it go very fast certain times. Quite sensitive for me. The pictures and the Youtube videos look sharp and the earphones provide quite a good quality of listening. The earphones is much better than my Motorola L72 earphones. The Motorola earphones can hurt my ears if I used it for quite some time. The Apple earphones are more pleasant to the ear. There are games, notes and contacts in the fourth generation Apple Ipod Nano. For anyone who has WMA files, ITunes 8 would be able to convert it to the AAC3 or MP3 format automatically. You also can convert Youtube videos to MP4 format through online services such as Media Converter, Media Convert and KeepVid. I bought it because I will use it. Happy with the purchase. American Idol is back with its 8th season this year. American Idol 2009 started today with the auditions shown on Star World, channel 711 on Astro. I think that 8TV will show it too starting Friday this week or next week. Watched the two hour premiere of American Idol 2009. There are several good contestants and some of the selected ones today have good voices, especially, Scott, the last contestant today. Scott was born blind but he is able to play the piano and sings well too. He has a very good voice. He is really good. Hopefully, Indonesian TV will be showing American Idol Season 8. Honda City 2009

The new Honda City is launched in Malaysia last month. It has a cool look especially at the front. Very futuristic and easily recognisable. Honda has done it again. First they done it with the Civic and the City. However, the price is expensive. There are only two variants. The cheaper model, Honda City Grade E one costs RM85K and the higher end model, Honda City Grade E costs RM90K. Can't afford it currently. Hehe. I like Honda City. Saw the pictures on Paul Tan's blog and some other websites. Maybe Persona is the right one now. :P. Indeed it is the Power of Dreams. All Honda models uses the i-VTEC engine now. It has more power and better fuel efficiency. It also has a new audio system which also allows IPod and MP3 players to be connected to it. Visit the Honda City official website and the Honda Malaysia website for more details. There will be roadshows too around Malaysia during these few months. Maybe I can look at the car in more detail at the roadshows in 1 Utama and Mid Valley. IPod Nano 8GB and American Idol 2009 Honda City 2009 Decisions

Decisions

Hi, We will make decisions everyday in various activities whether at work, school, uni, life or money spending or future planning. Some decisions that we made may be the correct decision, some can be foolish, some may not seems right, some decisions people may say it is not the right one. If we have made the correct decision, we will gain from it. It is a decision worth it even though others may think it is a loss or that it is not a good decision at all. We feel satisfied about it. Sometimes, as a Christian, I feel that God seems to be pointing me to that particular decision. Sometimes, the decision gives us value and blessings. If we gain or have something that we do not use frequently, then it is not a gain for us. We have it but we don't use it. It will be a white elephant. What for if we get that thing? We don't use it at all. In the end we give it to others or to the charity organisations or even throw it away in the end or sell it. Therefore, we may make decisions which others may consider a loss or lost opportunity but in our hearts we know that it is the right one and move forward. Yes, some of our decisions can be wrong too. This actually means that we are not perfect. It displays our imperfectness. Even we can make the wrong decisions based on the information given to us. Each of us also thinks differently and has different priorities in life. So our decisions may be based on those as well. At the particular point in time, maybe it's the right thing to do but in the future, it may not be. Some may seem strange but we also know that God is in control of everything. Only God makes the right decisions. He knows if we are right or we are wrong. He knows everything, what happens in our life, he knows. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Back in KL

Hi, I just came back to KL yesterday. Was in Jakarta. Took the Air Asia flight back and it was delayed 1 hour. Arrived here at 1900 KL time instead of 1800. Flight is pleasant although there was a little turbulence for a while. Had a good experience there. Can get used to it. Chinese New Year will be coming in just 3 weeks. This year is the year of the Ox. I was born in the year of the Ox. Will be having some family reunion gatherings during that time. I am going to buy more books to read. Most possibly written by Stephen King, James Patterson and Michael Connelly. May be looking at it tomorrow. These can help me kill time. Will be going to the First Baptist Church in PJ tomorrow for the 1100 service and listen to the sermon and worship God. That's all, Teng Joon
