Updates on Saturday

Hi, There are also other Christian songs and hymns that I have missed out in my previous post:
  1. What Child Is This
  2. Away in the Manger
In the afternoon today, I read the Bible and covered a lot of chapters in 1st Chronicles. I read from 1 Chronicles 13 until 1 Chronicles 21 and a few chapters of Isaiah. Since I do not have much things to do today, I can cover quite a lot. Most of the Chronicles talked about the genealogy of Israel at that time. It also included how God had been with David when he was the King and fought against the Philistines and Hadedezer, King of Zobah. Went for lunch at Thai Express with my room mate. It was a nice one. I ordered a Beef Hor Fun Thailand style. But a bit on the more expensive side. I also have the opportunity to meet some of my Indonesian friends here that I met in Monash University. We will be meeting up next Saturday. Good to meet them. There are three of them. The others are in other parts of Indonesia. My cold and sore throat are much better. Nose is not as blocked now compared to the past few days. Sore throat is almost healed. I went downstairs to have a look the Taman Anggrek clinic when I went for a short walk just now. It is very windy today. May have slight rain later. It is good to hear that Taman Anggrek has a lot of facilities here which includes a clinic. Very convenient. There are a lot of movies broadcasted on TV these few days and this week. It is the older movies though such as Superman Returns, The Hulk (First), The Santa Clause 2, Rocky I - V. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Lord of the Rings III: The Return of the King. There will be a documentary on China Rising on Discovery Channel next week at 7pm South East Asia. It will showcase how China prepared themselves to host the Olympics this year in Beijing. I think it lasts for five days. Will be attending the Gereja Bethel Indonesia church service tomorrow evening. That's all, Rogerkoo

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Hi, I would like to wish all readers and followers of my blog a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!. May God continue to bless you in 2009. The actual significance of Chirstmas is that Jesus was born on this day about 2000 years ago. It is a time of celebration for all Christians in the world. I actually fell sick two days ago with sore throat and cold. The sore throat is getting better now. My nose is quite blocked still. May see the doctor tomorrow. Need to drink more water and eat more greens and fruits. This morning, I attended the Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) Christmas service at Taman Anggrek. Communion was part of the service as well. The worship session was good. It suprised me that the song by Chris Tomlin, How Great is Our God is sang here as well. At the end of the service, everyone receives a door gift containing a Breadtalk bread, a 330 ml Danone Aqua Drinking Water and a GBI 2009 Calendar. Of course, it is in Indonesian. Here are some of the Christmas songs and hymns that we normally sing during Christmas:
  • Joy to the World
  • Silent Night
  • O Holy Night
  • O Come All Ye Faithful
  • Angels We Have Heard on High (Gloria.....in excelsis Deo)
  • Hark the Herald Angels Sing
  • The First Noel
  • God Rest All Ye Merry Gentlemen
  • We Wish You A Merry Christmas
  • Jingle Bells
  • Let It Snow
  • Santa Claus is coming to town

At Jakarta Now

Hi Everyone, I am at Jakarta now. I can get used to the environment now. I currently live in Taman Anggrek Apartments. Quite a nice place. Just below it, there is the Mal Taman Anggrek, one of the biggest shopping centres in Jakarta. Been watching a lot of Discovery Channel & Discovery Science recently. The tv channels here are limited. I also attended a church service today at 1700. It is in Indonesian though. Worship is slighly different but it's ok. The message is quite good today. The church is Gereja Bethel Indonesia. They have a two hours service. I had a gift exchange with my friends here yesterday. I got a vacuum stainless steel flask. Quite a good gift. This is my first vacuum flask. During my cell group's Christmas gathering, I got a water bottle. It is at the right timing because the handle of my previous water bottle broke at that time. Had some food with them too. Please note that I will post the pictures after my trip back to KL. I will not post any pictures now. Thanks. That's all.

Bolt

Hi, I went to GSC Cheras Leisure Mall on Wednesday to watch Disney's latest animation movie, Bolt. It is about a dog named Bolt who is a dog that has superpowers in a TV series. Bolt acted along side a girl called Penny. They were very close together when they acted in the TV series. The adventure starts when Bolt was obsessed with saving Penny's life went out into the whole world. During this time, he discovered that he did not have any superpowers in the real world. As he journeys to find Penny, he made friends with a hamster named Rhino and a cat named Mittens and they taught Bolt to become a hero in the real world. It is an educational movie. It encourages us not to give up easily and strive to do the best that we can in the things that we do. Bolt is voiced by John Travolta and Penny is voiced by the star of Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus. I give this show a rating of 8/10.

Christian Living

Hi, These few days, I tried to find something about holy or christian living. There are a few passages in which I found useful and I aim to have some of these characters: Colossians 3:5-12 5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. 12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (NIV) Galatians 5:19-23 19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. (NIV) I find these two passages really show me the life that I should live as a Christian. In the Bible, in Matthew, we are called to be the salt and light of the world. (Matthew 5:13-14) Of course, I am not perfect but these are the standards that we should follow. In Mark 12:30, The Lord told us the greatest commandment of all, Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you mind and with all your strength. In Mark 12:31, it says Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than this. These are some of the Christian virtues and character that we should follow and emulate:
  1. Love
  2. Forgiveness
  3. Joy in knowing God and Jesus as our Lord and Saviour
  4. Patience
  5. Kindness
  6. Generous but not to the point that we suffer in our part. We should be cheerful givers.
  7. Goodness
  8. Faithfulness
  9. Perserverance
  10. Positive Attitude
  11. Prayerful Minds
  12. Gentleness
  13. Self Control
I hope to be able to have all of these. God will help me to achieve these through the Holy Spirit.

More Christmas Decorations at The Gardens

Hi, I went to The Gardens this afternoon by using the KTM Komuter. It is only 10 minutes away from Tasik Selatan. It links to the North Court 1st Floor of Mid Valley Megamall. Very convenient. KTM Komuter has done a good job here enabling people to get to Mid Valley easier. These are some of the pictures taken when I was at The Gardens this afternoon:

Dinner with School Friends & Quantum of Solace

Hi, I planned a dinner with my school friends at Cheras Leisure Mall. Just came back from the dinner. We went for dinner at Esquire Kitchen. Had a good time there. Initially, two friends confirmed of coming for the dinner but there were 6 of us. Another school friend called other friends as well whom I did not have their contact and they came. It was a successful outing. We were talking about things and know more better about each one of us. In the afternoon, I went for my church's Vacation Bible School (VBS) Concert. It was great. The songs were good. There was a sketch and the participants of the VBS did a great job. The theme for VBS this year is Outrigger's Island, based on Hawaii islands. The kids had fun learning about God during the week with plenty of activities such as games, worship sessions and had delicious meals. I wish to thank all the volunteers who spent time in VBS because they have done a good job. A lot of people were involved in the project and they include teachers, assistant teachers, the worship team, the VBS coordinators, the decorations team and the cooking team. You all have done a great job. Please look at some of the pictures that I have taken today: I have watched Quantum of Solace. It is not bad. Very fast paced and action packed. Watched it at GSC Pavilion KL last Saturday. Daniel Craig did his stuff well. James Bond found out the truth about Vesper, his girlfriend that we have seen in Casino Royale. I will give Quantum of Solace a rating of 7.5/10. Prefer Casino Royale even though I enjoyed the Quantum of Solace. Judi Dench, Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton were good in their acting as well.

Never Give Up

Hi, Some people gives up easily. Some people will try until they can do it even though they may take a long time. Some people give it a number of tries. In our everyday situations, we will face a lot of challenges. It may involve something that we have not done before or out of our comfort zones. This does not mean that we should just give up that easily. We should really try our best efforts to try to accomplish the goal and objectives of what we are going. I never give up easily. In every situation or challenge, I will give my best to complete it. It does not matter if we fail or not. This is because we can learn from our failures and move on. It builds up my experience. When I experience it again in the future, I will know the way or know the right step to start to solve it. We will not make the same mistakes again. Just like Thomas Edison, who tried again and again and in the end, he discovered light. If I really do not know how to achieve the target or do the things, I will ask people around if they know anything about it especially if it is a group assignment or project. We learn from the people around us. The "Nothing is Impposible" tagline is one of my favourite mottos. Most of the time, there will be a solution for the situation. Everything can be done but for certain things, we will need to make effort to do it. We have our limitations though. We can't solve some of the things in the world we live in. God, however can make it possible. He has no limitations. He called us to persevere for Him. We may face difficulties but with God's assistance and presence, He can help us to acheive it. God is there for Christians who have the right intentions, meaning that it is something that glorifies his name. Our wisdom and knowledge comes from God. Everything is possible with God. There is nothing that God can't do. He knows everything. In the book of Proverbs, God called us to embrace wisdom and not folly. Proverbs 2:6 says: For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding (NIV) Proverbs 2:12 says: Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse In Romans 8:28, it says: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose. (NIV) Here are some photos of the Vacation Bible School decorations held at my church this week:

Il Divo: The Promise

Hi, I have bought the Il Divo: The Promise Luxury Edition Album which comes with a DVD containing 3 performances and an interview with the group. I enjoy listening to their songs. They did a beautiful version of The Winner Takes It All and Amazing Grace. The whole CD has a total of 11 songs and all of them are easy listening. It is a great album. Bought it at Speedy Video, 1 Utama Branch. Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is now in the Malaysian market. It looks sleek and it is the first time that Sony Ericsson utilises the Windows Mobile 6.1 Operating System. It has a keyboard hidden underneath the phone and can be slided out sideways. It looks cool. The phone can be divided to 9 different panes. It has a touch screen too.

CSI:Miami Season Finale, The Amazing Race Asia, Heroes 3 & 24

tvHi, Had a busy week this week. Need to finish the project work by tomorrow. Finished it already but stil some are pending testing from project leader. Arrived home only about 2140 today. Watched Amazing Race Asia, Heroes Season 3 & Ugly Betty. The Malaysian team, Ida Nerina & Tania was third in the competition. Congratulations to them. Sam and Vince from Hong Kong has won the Amazing Race Asia. Congratulations to them as well. They worked really well in the 3rd leg. I will watch it again when it repeats. They nearly got eliminated in the previous round last week but still managed to be the last team to qualify for the final 3. Congrats to Geoff & Tisha as well for coming 2nd. Everyone in the race has done well. Heroes 3 and 24 are getting more interesting each episode. In 24, President Wayne was part of an assasination attempt. I am not sure if he died but I'll find out next Thursday. Chloe found out that Morris has been lying to her. He still drinks. Jack is finding information about Gredenko through Charles Logan. In Heroes, we take a sneak peek 4 years into the future. In Heroes 3, Claire Bennet became bad in the future and was part of a team that wanted to kill Peter Petrelli because of what he has done. Professor Mohinder became more agitated and he is much stronger now because of the serum that he has researched on. Hiro Nakamura is trying his best to save the world and he needs to get the formula back. He also found his old friend, Takero Kensei. And Matt continues his adventure in Africa, also looking at the future. It is also confusing as well. Watched CSI:Miami Season Finale yesterday. They solved their last case of the season. There is a twist at the end though. Lt. Horatio Caine was shot on the ground in the airfield. Will he survive? I think he will. It seems that one of his officers, Ryan is part of the plan to shoot Horatio? He received an sms on his phone which says "It is Done". The case is about the selling of unauthorised bullets to the military. I enjoy watching all of these shows. That's all for now.

New Honda City and Il Divo: The Promise!

Hi, Here are some pictures that I have taken in my church, First Baptist Church at Petaling Jaya on Friday night:
I am attending the CCF (Campus & Career Fellowship) in the church every Friday at 2015. Please feel free to let me know if you want to join. The normal activities that we do are worship and then bible study. We may have supper too after that at a Mamak stall or Restoran Gasing (Fried Noodles etc).
Our church will hold the VBS (Vacation Bible School) from 24th November to 30th November
Karis Ministry Notice Board. A ministry for senior citizens
The main church hall building. There are lower & upper levels. The Sunday services at 0845 and 1100 respectively are held here. Wedding ceremonies too.
Night view of PJ. Can't see very clearly here but if you are able to see the red light, it is Amcorp Mall and Offices
The New Honda City will be launched in Malaysia in mid-December. I have seen pictures of the new Honda City. It is very nice. Will like to see it someday in the showrooms. Have a look at the Honda City preview at this website: Excitement In The City. If you have a fast internet connection, it will load faster because it utilises the Google Maps technology here. Il Divo's new album is available in Malaysia now at Speedy Video. I think Tower Records may have it as well. I am going to buy it. In The Star yesterday, there is an advertisement of the new album, The Promise. Some of the hits are The Winner Takes It All, Hallelujah, Adagio & Amazing Grace. Saw some of them in YouTube. It will be another good album for them. I have the Siempre album now. Do you know that Simon Cowell was one of the persons who discover Il Divo? That's all.

At the Cross and You Never Let Go

These two songs are some of my favourte Christian songs currently: Please also read today's blog post entitled Heroes Season III after these two videos. There was another video posted last month which contains another video of How Great Our God, another favourite Christian song.

Heroes Season III

Hi, These are some of the tenants in KPMG Tower & IBM Plaza: Heroes Season 3 is now available in Malaysia through Astro Star World Channel 711. I watched the first two episodes on Thursday, 6th November 2008. The episodes was good. The main characters in the series are back namely:
  • Hiro Nakamura & his friend, Ando. Hiro can travel through time.
  • Peter & Nathan Petrelli. Is the real Peter locked up somewhere? The evil Peter is on the streets claiming that he is from the future
  • Claire Bennett the cheerleader who is able to heal herself
  • Jack Coleman. He is Claire's father. He is trying to prevent some evil group of people from attacking the country in the new season. He was locked up in a secret place as well but was released in the last few episodes in Heroes Season II
  • Sylar
  • Angela Petrelli. She is Peter & Nathan's mother. There is a twist at the end of the 2nd episode on Thursday. There seems to be a relationship between herself and Sylar.
  • Mohinder Suresh. He is a genetics professor who wanted to prove his father's theory right. At the second episode, he found a new substance and used it on himself. He became very strong after that.
  • Maya. She wants Mohinder to help her find a cure to stop her dangerous superpower which kills people.
  • Matt Parkman who has the ability to read people's mind. In the previous episode, he found himself in Africa
  • Tracy Strauss: Ali Larter played the character of Niki Larter in the Heroes Season I and II. She is playing both characters in Season III. In her new character, she plays Tracy who has the power of plunging down temperatures.
Heroes Season III is better than Season II. I kind of lost the interest of watching Season II except only until the end. This season keeps me want to watch it. Sylar is even more powerful in this season. Certain parts of the show may be scary but it is cool. I truly recommend this show now. Remember to watch Heroes Season 3 on Star World, Astro Channel 711 every Thursday at 10pm. To find out more information about Heroes, please visit its official site at: Heroes Offical Site. At the same time, I also watched 24 on AXN, Astro Channel 701. It is shown at the same time as Heroes. Jack Bauer is back saving the world from terrorist again. This time, the terrorists are planning nuclear attacks in the US. It is up to Jack to go and stop them. In this latest season, we found out that Jack's father was the mastermind of the assasination of President Palmer in the first few seasons of 24. His brother knew of this as well. Most of the characters of 24 are back. This includes:
  • Jack Bauer. He is the hero of the show.
  • Chloe
  • Morris
  • Bill Buchanan. He heads the CTU team where Jack, Chloe & Morris are working in
  • President Wayne Palmer. He may have make the wrong decision on the political side of things
Please visit the 24 official website for more details. Pls note that in AXN, the current season is Season 6 now. In the US, the season 7 will be starting soon. That's all for now.
