Perceptions that Christians are perfect people

Is it true that there is a perception that Christians are perfect people? I mean in general terms, Christians are good people who cares about people, holy, righteous and does nothing wrong. In reality however, it may not be true and when people sees that, they say he / she is a Christian and he / she still does that thing and nothing is different about them. Christians are not perfect people. I am a Christian and sometimes I make mistakes. Without me knowing it, what I say may or do may have hurt or disappointed some people even though they did not say so. It happened or happens indirectly. What we said or do as a joke or laugh to someone may not be reflected in the other person's feelings. Sometimes, even the simplest joke or ejek about that person may cause him to be unhappy with us. If you are very close with them, then maybe yes and they are ok with it but if they are not, then it's not very good. The Best Selling Secrets (同事三分親)R1 has an episode on this. Two of the previous staff who were just married to each other came to see Mo Kei Yong and the rest of the office staff including Marco, Luk Jit, Kawaii and the rest. Mo Kei Yong, Marco and two other colleagues cracked jokes about both of them. They seemed to laugh together but after a while, they left. The husband came earlier and then left with the intention of going to the toilet. The same goes for his wife. Only Luk Jit & Kawaii did not laugh at them. We can see how people would react to it. Some people can accept it. Some people could not. As Christians, we need to be sensitive to others too. Christians are not perfect. In the NIV version of Romans 3:10 in the Bible, this is the word of God. As it is written; no one is righteous, not even one. We however accepts and believes Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We believe that Jesus died for our sins about 2000 years ago and rose again on the third day. Therefore, in God's eyes, we are justified and made right with Him. In God's eyes, our sins are forgiven. He died once for all and for all whether our sins were in the past, present or in the future. Do you think that after becoming Christians, we will have no sin? No! There are a few differences between Christians and others. It is about the way Christians live. We are told in the Bible in Mark 24:15-16: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all you soul and all your strength and all your minds (NIV) R2. We are told to put other's first and care for others. In believing God, we also do and say things in the mindset of everything that we do or say is for God's glory. By doing so, it is not an obligation to work or study or the rest but it is a service to God. God likes us to use our skills and abilities to serve Him. Galatians 5:23 also talks about the fruit of the spirit. Below is the verse: Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (NIV). Against such things there is no law.R2 Being a Christian changes me. I am very patient now and have very good self control. The Holy Spirit is with me and changes my mind about life and enables me to focus on God. Just as God loves us, we should love others as well. The Holy Spirit will guide us not to sin. He also helps us to think Godly things and not things which does not please him. Because of God's love, what we do or say, it is for God's pleasure as mentioned in the paragraph above. Being a Christian also teaches me to have good virtues like honesty, honouring our parents and diligence. Here is a list of the 10 Commandments that are mentioned in the book of Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 Exodus 20:3-16

3 "You shall have no other gods before me.

4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

13 "You shall not murder.

14 "You shall not commit adultery.

15 "You shall not steal.

16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.R2

These are some of the virtues and values that I have learnt from the Bible. Please feel free to comment on this entry if you agree or disagree through the comments feature or the Shoutmix chat box.
