Christian Living
Hi,
These few days, I tried to find something about holy or christian living. There are a few passages in which I found useful and I aim to have some of these characters:
Colossians 3:5-12
5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (NIV)
Galatians 5:19-23
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. (NIV)
I find these two passages really show me the life that I should live as a Christian. In the Bible, in Matthew, we are called to be the salt and light of the world. (Matthew 5:13-14) Of course, I am not perfect but these are the standards that we should follow.
In Mark 12:30, The Lord told us the greatest commandment of all, Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you mind and with all your strength. In Mark 12:31, it says Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than this.
These are some of the Christian virtues and character that we should follow and emulate:
